Babies & their Reflexes

It's crazy to find out how many things are hard wired in a baby.  We knew of certain reflexes, such as Leonard's sucking ability right out of the womb.  In the meantime we've learned about others, such as the Moro reflex in which a baby on its back, having a feeling of falling, tenses and throws its arms out.
Just recently we were in the doctor's office, changing Leo on the exam table.  The nurse, seeing Leo's little head pointing one way said: "he is doing the classic 'fencer' pose."
When she saw the confused look on our faces, she pointed out how his front arm was out, and the back one was up. She then turned his head the other way, and sure enough, his arms reversed position!  Who knew.  Apparently there are a whole bunch of these in babies, that we grow out of (except maybe the hiccups).
